It is SO COLD!

The weather here is so crazy…driving home early Sunday morning, it was 70 degrees!  Today, we had freezing rain!  To prove it, here is my picture of the day :-)

Quick update!

Hello!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  I just wanted to let you know that I have been taking my “photo a day” (yea!) — but I apologize for being a bit behind on the blogging!  My mom and I photographed a beautiful wedding on Saturday evening (and in fact did not make it home until early this morning).  I have to admit, I caught up a bit on my sleep today — I owe a big thank you to my husband who let me crash for a late afternoon nap!  What a great guy! :-)

Anyways, here is a quick pic for you until I get a chance to get all caught up!

Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for making 2008 a great year!  I feel incredibly blessed to have worked with so many wonderful people, and I look forward to capturing many new memories with you in 2009!

I am starting a few “resolutions” this year (are you???).  To help me be accountable, I’d like to share one with you: to take at least one picture each day every day all year long!  Here is today’s picture…a simple moment, but one I’d always like to remember!  You’ll notice that my son’s eyes are not focused on me — in fact, they are staring right past me…at one of Logan’s favorite things in the whole world: Clifford, the Big Red Dog!  At this point in his life, there’s nothing much that can top that red dog, and I love how Logan’s face lights up whenever we mention him or read about him in a book!  We’ve been on an all out search for everything “Clifford” related (DVDs/books/stuffed animals/etc…) in preparation for Logan’s birthday in March, so if you come across anything, please let me know!  Finding Clifford paraphernalia is harder than one might think :-)

Have a great day with your loved ones — and I look forward to posting a new picture for you tomorrow!

Soul Searching…

As the end of the year approaches, I’m thinking about all of the new things I’d like to do with the business in 2009…as well as all of the new changes that we’ll be going through as a family (those of you out there with 3 or more kids, tell me it’s easier than it looks, please!)  As I figure out how to achieve this delicate balance, I’ve been thinking more and more about the specific parts of photography that I cherish the most and the reasons why they mean so much to me.  I’d love to hear your thoughts….Why is photography important to you?

And because I wouldn’t want to end a post without a picture, here are two quick ones for you!  :-)

This one is from our Christmas-card-picture-taking fun…

And this one is from the summer, before morning sickness attacked me and I somehow managed to gain 500 lbs. :-)

Trying to get a Christmas Card Photo!

Well, I must say, taking a photo of the kids for our Christmas card was the same challenge it is every year…do you think there’s any truth to this shirt? :-)

No Particular Place to Go…

Have you ever noticed how children are never, ever in a rush — or at least, never at the same time you are? Whenever Logan and I go to pick up Emma from school, he makes the 5 minute walk into a 20 minute saunter…stopping several times to admire artwork on the walls, wave hello to kids who are running by, and examine the carpet for unknown hidden treasures.  In that short stroll, I probably say “Come on, Logan” 100 times (on a good day).  I just want to make sure we get to Emma on time…I know she is waiting on us!  But to Logan, there is no clock ticking closer and closer to 3, there are no deadlines, and there is nowhere we need to be right now except right here.  I’m not sure if this is making any sense at all, but I’ve started trying to look at it from his point of view, and I have to admit — the boy has a point.  What fun is life if we’re always rushing about?  Always trying to get from here to there as quickly as possible — never appreciating the here and now.  I am so guilty of speeding through the moment — of thinking about Emma’s 5th birthday when I’m planning for her 4th…of thinking about how nice it’s going to be in the summer when the winter winds are just starting to blow…and missing out completely on the joy and the potential and the wonder of right now.

This weekend, let’s all take time to just be at peace wherever we may be…let’s sit a little longer than we normally would…and just………enjoy!!! :-)

What Matters Most…

Since I haven’t been able to physically do everything that I’ve wanted to over the past couple of months, I’ve tried to “think” about everything that I want to do — at least it’s something, right? :-)  One thing I’ve been thinking a lot about is documenting what matters most.  Like, right now, Logan’s favorite thing in the world is to go upstairs and turn on the Wii and play bowling.  For the longest time, bowling was the most frustrating game for him (he could not figure out the “arm” motion), but now his coordination has greatly improved, and he can really send that ball sailing!  Every time he bowls (whether he gets a strike or a gutter ball), he throws up his hands and shouts “yes!” — which sounds more like “yeth!!!”  And he gets so excited.  Every. Single. Time.  It is too cute.

And now that she has started school, Emma has created a little class of her own at home — which consists of every stuffed animal she has ever been given — and she has to lay them all out for nap time on their “nap mats” (which consists of every kitchen towel I’ve ever been given).  She reads to them.  She takes them on field trips.  She pats them on their back while they sleep.  And she tells them not to worry because their mommies will be back soon!

Two little memories that don’t really mean much now…they are just every day life.  But I truly believe in a year or two or even ten, it’s these little every day memories that will matter most.

A few updates!

I promise, I will become a regular blogger again!!!  I have finally (pretty much) gotten over the morning sickness…left in its place is an annoying case of exhaustion, but that’s not as bad — I just fall asleep at like 8:30 every night :-)

I’m still working to stay caught up with everything, but I miss the blog so much (and my husband actually asked me if I had posted in a while!), so I wanted to give you all a little update!

1 - My mom and I photographed the super sweet wedding of April and Tony Romo Bryan a couple of weeks ago! :-)  It was a wonderful night, and here are a few quick favorites…

2 - The kids had a great Halloween!  (Remember, I’m still not 100%, so please don’t judge me by these costumes!)  :-)

3 - We found out that we are expecting another………………….
ANY GUESSES??? :-)

LOVE this couple!

My mom and I photographed this engagement session for April and Bryan’s upcoming wedding — and we had a blast!  This couple was up for anything — and just so SWEET!  I can’t wait for their wedding!!!

Now, tell me, do these two remind you of any celebrities???  One of them is big news in Big D!  I’m curious if anyone else notices the resemblance…

Where have I been?

I am so sorry for the long delay in posting…most of you know that I have LOVED writing on this blog, but I have just not had the energy to do so in a while…I wanted to post a quick pic from a really sweet and fun wedding my mom and I photographed two weeks ago, and ask a question: any guesses as to what (or better yet, who???) has kept me away for so long? :-)
